Qualifications

Upon successful completion of your apprenticeship you will be recognised as a fully qualified member of your employers team

Vehicle Technician, Parts Advisor, Vehicle Fitter or Specialist Tyre Fitter – upon successful completion of your apprenticeship you will be a very well qualified professional.

Vehicle Technician

The Vehicle Technician apprenticeships that we offer are progression routes, this means that you first study and achieve a level 2 qualification (apprenticeship) and then move straight on to a level 3 qualification (advanced apprenticeship).

Vehicle Technician Apprenticeship (equivalent to five good GCSE passes)

You will work towards achieving:

IMI Awards VCQ Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Competence (VCQ, Vocational Competence Qualification, previously known as an NVQ)

IMI Awards VRQ Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles (VRQ, Vocationally Related Qualification)

Functional Skills in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT at Level 1. This will take you approximately 24 months to complete.

Advanced Apprenticeships (equivalent to two A-level passes)

To start this programme, you must have completed the Level 2 Apprenticeship. This helps you to develop the knowledge and skill you need to allow entry to the Advanced Apprenticeship. You will typically move seamlessly onto to the Advanced Apprenticeship with us from your Apprenticeship.

IMI Awards VCQ Level 3 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Competence (VCQ, Vocational Competence Qualification, previously known as an NVQ)

IMI Awards VRQ Level 3 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles (VRQ, Vocationally Related Qualification)

Functional Skills in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT at Level 2. This will take you approximately 18 months to complete.

In total, across the Apprenticeship and Advanced Apprenticeship, you will attend 22 weeks of residential “off the job” training at the ProVQ National Automotive Training Centre in Shrewsbury, Shropshire over a period of 42 months. This is broken down into 1 and 2 week residential training blocks.

Additionally, you may be given the opportunity to prove your ability through ATA assessment with the Institute of the Motor Industry, accelerated learning and qualification through apprenticeship.

A.N Apprentice AffIMI

Customer Service and Parts

The Customer Service and Parts apprenticeships that we offer are direct L3, this means that you immediately work towards a L3 qualification (advanced apprenticeship) and do not study at L2 first.

Advanced Apprenticeships (equivalent to two A-level passes)

You will work towards achieving:

IMI Awards Level 3 Diploma in Vehicle Parts Principles (VRQ, Vocationally Related Qualification)

IMI Awards Level 3 Diploma in Vehicle Parts Competence (VCQ, Vocational Competence Qualification, previously known as an NVQ)

And:

Parts Advisor ATA

The length of programme is 18 months and you will attend the ProVQ National Automotive Training Centre for 12 block release training weeks in total during this time – for 8 weeks in year 1 (a 2 week block at the start of your programme followed by a 1 week block approximately every 9 weeks) and 4 weeks in year 2 (a 1 week block approximately every 6 weeks – year 2 being 6 months in duration only).

Vehicle Fitter

The Vehicle Fitter apprenticeship that we offer is a  level 2 programme (apprenticeship, equivalent to five good GCSE passes). You will work towards achieving:

IMI Awards Level 2 Diploma in Vehicle Fitting Competence (Vocational Competence Qualification, previously known as an NVQ)

IMI Awards Level 2 Diploma in Vehicle Fitting Knowledge (Vocationally Related Qualification)

The length of programme is 24 months, 10 block release training weeks in total. You will attend the ProVQ National Automotive Training Centre in Shrewsbury for 6 weeks in year 1 (a 2 week block approximately every 14 weeks) and 4 weeks in year 2 (a 2 week block approximately every 14 weeks).

Specialist Tyre Fitter

The Specialist Tyre Fitter apprenticeship that we offer is a  level 2 programme (apprenticeship, equivalent to five good GCSE passes). You will work towards achieving:

IMI Awards Level 2 Diploma in Vehicle Specialist Tyre Fitting Competence (Vocational Competence Qualification, previously known as an NVQ)

IMI Awards Level 2 Diploma in Vehicle Specialist Tyre Fitting Knowledge (Vocationally Related Qualification)

The length of programme is 24 months, 8 block release training weeks in total. You will attend the ProVQ National Automotive Training Centre in Shrewsbury for 5 weeks in year 1 (a 2 week block at the start of the programme followed by a 1 week block approximately every 14 weeks) and 3 weeks in year 2 (a 1 week block approximately every 16 weeks).
