Vacancy Description:

The Autocare Technician carries out a range of services and repairs to cars and light goods vehicles, able to problem-solve and work as part of a team but also independently. An Autocare Technician contributes to their workshop’s commercial operations, impact on the business and maintains a high standard of service.

An Autocare Technician Apprentice plays a vital role in the industry. As a Castrol Autocare Apprentice, you’ll work alongside an experienced team, maintaining and repairing customer vehicles at a modern workshop that uses the latest tools and technology. Castrol Service workshops attract a premium customer that expect a premium service using top-end products and parts.

 

Duties will include:

  • Working with vehicle systems including steering and suspension, brakes, battery and charging systems, exhausts, air conditioning, 4-wheel geometry and Hybrid/Electric vehicle systems and safe working procedures
  • Understanding basic consumer legislation relevant to the occupation
  • Following Health & Safety requirements for the workplace
  • Identifying customer and vehicle needs, and presenting solutions
  • Contributing to the overall results of the business and demonstrating commercial awareness
  • Carrying out vehicle safety inspections and routine maintenance using manufacturer specifications
  • Dealing with routine stock deliveries, placing stock into storage, carrying out stock rotation duties and ordering parts for customers, whilst following company procedures
  • Using a range of specialist tools, measuring instruments and diagnostic equipment
  • Organising work, meeting deadlines and scheduling tasks appropriately

 

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will gain an Autocare Technician Level 2 standard qualification.

Ideally, you will have, or have been predicted to gain GCSEs grade 3 or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths.

 

Training to be provided

With mentoring, support and monitoring whilst at work, combined with residential training at the Atcham Training Centre, you will gain the knowledge and skills required to achieve the qualification.

 

Please note: Off the job training is on a residential basis. All travel and accommodation costs are covered by the employer.
