Turn your interest in cars into a career.

Curious about how vehicles work? Enjoy solving problems and getting hands-on?

Start your career as an Apprentice Vehicle Technician, learning alongside experienced technicians and developing your skills through training at our purpose-built Academy.

Vehicle technology is constantly evolving. This is your opportunity to learn how to service, diagnose and repair modern vehicles, building practical skills and confidence in a working workshop.

What you’ll do

With guidance from an experienced technician, you’ll gradually learn to:

  • Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and vehicle inspections.
  • Remove, repair and replace components to manufacturers’ specifications.
  • Investigate mechanical and electrical faults using a logical approach.
  • Use specialist diagnostic tools and measuring equipment.
  • Read wiring diagrams, technical data and repair instructions.
  • Check that completed work meets quality standards.
  • Contribute to a safe, organised and efficient workshop.

As your knowledge grows, you’ll take on more complex tasks with support from the team.

What we’re looking for

You don’t need previous workshop experience or formal qualifications. You do need literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE Grade 4), a genuine interest in vehicle technology and the commitment to learn.

You’ll suit this apprenticeship if you:

  • Enjoy practical tasks and understanding how things work.
  • Approach problems logically and pay attention to detail.
  • Listen carefully, follow instructions and ask questions.
  • Work well with others in a busy environment.
  • Are willing to study and put your learning into practice.

Your training and qualification

You’ll receive workplace mentoring, support and progress reviews, alongside residential training at our purpose-built Academy.

On successful completion, you’ll achieve the Level 3 Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle) apprenticeship qualification.

Residential training

Off-the-job training takes place in residential blocks. During these periods, you’ll stay at a Hotel local  to the training centre ( Burnaston/Atcham), with all travel and accommodation costs covered by your employer.
